Imagine being on a flight for your job all is well until the plane suddenly falls out of the sky now as the only survivor all you have to survive is your own sanity and whatever you can find. In the film castaway this hardworking mailman takes his career seriously getting on a plane to ship packages for his job the plane suddenly crashes now stranded on the island being the only survivor all he has is his sanity and whatever washed ashore to help him get back home. now stranded on an island everyone he knew and loved thinks he is dead. he stays fixated that he will surely be saved in no time building a fire and planning on leaving soon. days turned to weeks and then months to years he is now fixated on leaving the island with his companion wilson. the storytellers usage of the island archetype show that we as humans …show more content…
After a while of meeting most of the people he knows he is shown to be a little awkward with others almost if he is in shock because of his experience. He also finds out his wife has moved on to someone else because she thought he was dead. This ties back to the loneliness of the island because of its long term effects on him mentally due to the lack of other humans on the island he was stuck on for so many years and how it has changed his life now with his wife moved on he has to restart life all over again.
In conclusion the film castaway shows an important message that we as humans need each other because we have become so used to other people it’s become something we need or else loneliness will cause us to go insane. We socialize because us as humans need to interact with others because other people can help throughout the journey and help keep us in check. This also shows a friend like wilson can keep us company for a while but an actual friend can go a long
