I chose to review this book because it sounded more intriguing than the other options on the provided list. This is due to my interest in the origins of the First Amendment. I believe that freedom of speech is a monumental aspect of freedom in general. The author, Leonard Williams Levy, was an American Historian who focused on the history of Constitutional freedoms in America. Levy was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1969 for his work on Origins of the Fifth Amendment. He also wrote nearly forty books aside from Legacy of Suppression in his career.
