Throughout the years, more people are getting ill with terminal illnesses such as cancer or having horrific accidents which are leaving individuals with permanent damage. These diseases are being painful for the person itself, but also for their family members who are taking care of them. This is why as the time goes by there are many more patients being prescribe with the injection in order for them to end up with their suffering. People opposed to the legalization of the Physician-Assisted Suicide because they argue that there might be some kind of abuse; however, Euthanasia should be legalized because every human being has its own choice either to live or die and also because those people will stop suffering.
In the selection the author expresses how legalizing Euthanasia could be a risk when it comes to being a danger and becoming an abuse when administrating it. For example, he states, “…the laws don't require an independent witness present when a person is taking the prescription, so there is no way to be sure every dose is self-administered or taken by free will” (454). An example of how legalizing euthanasia will be not a bad issue is, “Supporters of what they call aid in dying align their cause with American values of individual liberty and freedom of choice” (Karaim 453). Basically what Karaim is declaring is that everyone has its own choice to decide what happens in their lives and if they want to die with the euthanasia it was because it was what they wanted to. A second illustration of how euthanasia is not as bad as what some people think is “Individuals should have a right to escape a bad” (Karaim 453). What this means is that if an individual wants that medication to be applied to them in order to die with dignity it is their own decision and everyone has to respect
