Marijuana is a drug that is consumed for its psychological and psychoactive effects that entails relaxation, increased appetite and increased euphoria. My interest in taking this question is based on the fact that societies have had different views on marijuana, which has prompted much scientific research and reviews. This study is important to policy makers and other stakeholders who needs to reap the benefit of Marijuana, which has long been held as a destructive drug. Although there have been negative opinions about the use of Marijuana, it should be legalized due to a number of reasons.

Every year, more people join marijuana smoking, which make its prevention measures irrelevant. Additional to that, it is too expensive for the justice system as apprehending and rehabilitating the smokers consume a lot of public resources. As such, it should be legalized and its use taxed to support government programs.
When marijuana is legalized, the herb can be used as vegetable and other plant roles, such as development of bio-fuel. European countries and Canada have effectively managed to support legal cultivation of hemp without legalization of the actual consumption of marijuana. With the world embracing green energy as a way of minimizing carbon emission, The Marijuana herbs and stalks can be used as a source of bio fuel.
When marijuana is legalized, there would be regulatory framework that would govern it. For instance, the regulatory framework for consumption of alcohol prohibits those who are less than 18 years old from consuming it. When marijuana is illegalized, it becomes highly valuable and attractive, compelling even teenagers to smoke it.
