Legally Blonde the musical was written by Heather hatch and based off of the 2001 film Legally Blonde and the novel by Amanda brown. The music in the show and lyrics were written by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin. The story revolves around a sorority girl named Elle Woods an attractive blonde sorority girl from California who at times can be superficial although she is not the average stereotypical dumb blonde who goes to Harvard Law School to win back the love of her life and ex-boyfriend Warner a very good looking but also very shallow guy. The two of recently broken up because Warner believe I was not serious enough. So Elle Woods enrolls to prove to Warner that she is serious. For example the sorority girls speak in high pitched voices bounce around a lot are very peppy and use a lot of stereotypical sorority girl phrases. As for the lawyers annunciate every word usually are very arrogant and condescending. A great example of this is the song blood in the water performed by Callahan the professor at the law school. Diction also reinstates the theme of the show be true to yourself. Though it is only present in the main protagonist Elle Woods typical sorority girl voice does not change when she goes to law school she does not conform to their way of thinking. But instead she does it her own way which displays how strong she is and also convinces Vivian to support her. The costumes in the show are stereotypical as the diction is. The lawyers wear suits with slacks if your man or with a dress if your woman. As for the sorority girls will wear warm clothing and each of them wears stereotypical stock character outfit. For example one of them is dressed as a cheerleader another is dressed in skimpy clothing and a third one is stressed then baggy clothing with glasses and does not look that dressed up as the others indicating that she is the
