What is selflessness? Selflessness is the act of being humble and caring for others before yourself. My sister, Leslie, represents what it is like to be selfless. A person should be selfless to help their self in life as well as others. Leslie Faulk is a prime example of a person who cares for others in her selfless nature, making her a wonderful role model in my life.
Leslie’s best characteristic is her willingness to care for others. Although she has many other desirable characteristics, her selflessness stands out the most. By using her kindness and compassion for others she boosts their self-esteem. She listens to those who need it and gives the best advice she can. Which by making others feel important and loved, just by listening, builds up the world, not tear it down.
When a girl loses her father to death at a young age, changes everything. Leslie had to suffer through that tragedy at the ripe age of fifteen. Although she went through a time of depression, she eventually figured out how to cope. The way she coped was by running track and she helped council others who lost a loved one. When she ran track she used her negative energy to excel in running. Running relieved the stress she built up every day

Leslies advice to me has always been, “Do not be like me, be better than me.” I have carried that with me ever since. Leslie has been my consular and my shoulder to cry on the past four years of my life. She has helped me gain confidence in myself, deal with my family issues, and become my own person. I have had an extremely hard time with my family, between the constant arguments, the moving out, and the abuse. Leslie is always the person I call for help and she never fails me. With my ability to depend on her it has bettered my life in so many ways, giving me confidence and the will to become who I really am and succeed in life. When no one else was there she
