Leslie Wexner is a businessman and entrepreneur who was born in 1937 to Russian immigrants in Dayton, Ohio. Wexner watched his father, who was a retailer, work very hard yet fail to earn much income. He attended law school, dropped out, and began helping his father with his general merchandising establishment. After an argument with his father, Wexner, in 1963, opened The Limited, which was named for the small selection of items that were sold in the store. The first year, The Limited’s sales were $165, 000, which greatly surpassed the sales of his father’s business. Currently, Leslie Wexner resides in New Albany, Ohio, and is the CEO of The L Brands (formerly Limited Brands), which he expanded to include such clothing and home goods stores as Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works, worth approximately $10 billion. He is the wealthiest resident in Ohio with a net worth of $5.8 billion. He is widely known for both his business prowess as well as his philanthropy, including a $100 million donation to The Ohio State University.
