Carter G. Woodson a historian created a month dedicated to all african americans in 1926. At first it was just the a week out of the month which was the second week in February was dedicated to all african americans, they called it “Negro History Week.” It didn’t become the whole month until 1976. The reason why Black History month is important is because it is an annual celebration that black americans have made and a time for recognizing the central role of black americans in the US history. In 1920 Langston Hughes was one of the most important writer of the Harlem Renaissance, which was the artistic movement which celebrated black life and culture. In his poetry he uses jazz and Black folk rhythms. He ignored the classical forms in favor of the Black culture. He was inspired by his grandmother.
In his poem “Let America Be America Again” is about the difference about his hopes for America and the reality of how the real world is really. Like when he says “I am the Negro bearing slavery’s scars. I am the red man driven from the land.” Back then African Americans use to recieve beat if they didn’t follow the rules given by their “master”, which were white americans. Their nickname is the red men and other awful names.

All of his work is based on what has happened to him in his life and what he has witnessed. The reason why he is famous is because he wrote about everything.
Langston Hughes “Democracy” and “Dream Variation” are based on the same things. Just like everything of Langston Hughes. Both of them talk about freedom and how they receive different treated from everyone
