Dear Jakey Boy, Congratulations! You’re getting married next week are the nerves are kicking in, but she’s beautiful in every way. You’re lucky, remember that and always treat her right. She’ll put up with you, and boy let me tell you that girl loves you. Now I just want to tell you a few things to get you through the next five years. “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars, to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman These are the words I would tell you to remember right now, words to inspire you Jake, so don’t forget them. Twenty-three years old and thinking back, I’d say just keeping doing everything right. I can tell you now that if you stay on this path, you will be amazed at the things you can and will accomplish. I know right now your biggest worry is who you are going to take to prom and the beach house for the weekend, let me tell you; You’re going to have the time of your life and you will never forget the memories made with those crazy friends of yours. Make sure to enjoy every little thing for the next few weeks, this summer, and these next few years. Trust me, it feels like just yesterday I was sitting in class half asleep praying to just get out of there and grow up and be on my own. But one day you are going to want it all back, cause inside you’re just a Momma’s boy. Graduation will come and go; Congrats on that too! Remember this day because it’s the end of a huge part of your life, but also the beginning of so much more. Some of these people you’ll see all the time, others every now and then, but most you may never see again. You’ll learn that each person has there own path to follow, and many won’t be next to you on yours. Say your goodbyes, hug your friends and leave high school with out a regret. The high school drama will also soon be over, so refreshing. Keep your good friends close to you; you’ll need them every step of the way and always be there when they need you. To this day you’re still admired for the passion and your love for your friends and family, don’t ever lose that. You are making your dreams come true Jake. Five years ago, being a firefighter was just a dream, but now you’re doing it. Working for the San Diego fire department is everything you ever dreamed. Even just saving one person, one time, you’ve changed the world just a little bit. You prove your strength every day. Every day when you wake up, as long as you are happy doing what you do, you have succeeded and your life has meaning. Every girl you dated, loved, hated, hurt or have been hurt by wont matter to you ever again once you meet your one and only wife to be, I’d tell you but I’ll let that come as a surprise for you. Here are a few tips for you though; Love, with every ounce of your heart and always show her. Forgive, everyone makes mistakes but a love like yours deserves every chance, so the dent in the car can be fixed; forgive her. Maybe five years from now you’ll be rocking a crying baby to sleep and feeling love like you’ve never known. Don’t fear the future, you feared it five years ago, and look at you now, successful happy and ready to take the leap and be married. Hopefully that girl and family doesn’t slow you and that truck down though. But hey on the other hand you may be a bachelor working day to day a real lady-killer. Only time will tell cause I’m not going to tell you anything to spoil your hectic yet enjoyable life.
