Albert Einstein wrote a letter to the president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, informing that there is another element that could be used to create an extremely powerful bomb. The element that was implied was Uranium. Uranium was only present in some parts of the world. There were three places that had Uranium: Canada, Czechoslovakia, and Congo. Germany stopped sales of Uranium from Czechoslovakia, but Einstein implied that Germany was also creating a bomb. Einstein also included in the letter that the United States should create a bomb. After President Roosevelt died Harry S. Truman became president in the last months of world war II. Truman had the choice of continuing the naval blockade, invade the island of Japan directly, or put an atomic bomb …show more content…
If the United States held back the bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan would still be at war with the U.S and the Japanese would have hatred upon us. The Japanese had no idea the bomb was being put to place. They had no choice but to surrender because the U.S threatened to launch another bomb, but little did they know the U.S did not have another bomb. Albert Einstein may have believed that atomic power should be used to generate electricity but not to initiate bombs. Einstein may have wrote the letter to suggest that Uranium could be used as a power resource but he probably did not have the thought in mind that maybe the president would use it as a weapon. The Atomic power could have been used to generate electricity and maybe the invention of power would be different instead of using gases. You could also use the atomic power is a backup when the power goes out in the cities. Americans rely themselves on the use of guns to protect themselves, other countries could strike at any time because they could create a weapon so powerful if they desired. The other countries could create a new type of bomb or even develop a new type of advanced machinery. They could also initiate a surprise attack if they were organized
