It is important to currently keep our knowledge and practice up to date. Investing in opportunities to enable staff to keep up to date is associated with costs and it would be unrealistic and irresponsible not to consider these costs seriously. The manager has to take in to account the costs of what each training course is going to cost and the time that it is going to take to take part in the training course. The manager also has to look at each member of staff and see who is competant, up to date, who needs to gain more knowledge and who will benefit more from going on what training course. Time is always a priority as we all work in an enviroment where every member of staff can not go on a training course day, either one or two members of staff will be able to leave the setting to take part in a training course as we have to make sure we have the correct amount of staff to work in our setting. We do take part in mandutory training which every member of staff needs to take part in, this is a priority as we do mandutory training courses after work and when everyone is free to take part in the trainning course. Mandutory training courses are courses such as safeguarding and first aid, we need to have these so we are all covered and have the qualifications to work in a nursery setting. At least one/two people need to be qualified in the nursery when other people are off, all staff in our setting mostly have the qualifications needed and everyone renews there knowledge
