All throughout this novel, there are quite a lot of characters introduced and each gives a certain role. The main protagonist, Jared Stone is a government employee that is suddenly diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. Immediately, he goes into a state of panic because he knows that his family depends on him. He soon puts his life up on eBay and is giving away his life to the highest bidder. He does whatever it takes to ensure that his family wouldn’t suffer financially when he passes. The antagonist is a different kind of character, this character is a parasite. Its name is Glio. In this novel, there happens to be a good lesson learned. As Jared goes through the most difficult part of his life, he is taught that he can’t do everything on his own. He learns it the hard way when his family found out about his eBay listing through the news and so they had no idea he had a terminal disease. When Jared and his wife, Deirdre, finally sit down and have a talk, he learns that his wife will always be there for him. He forgot what support felt like due to his lack of free time from his work.
