This quote shows how devoted and inclined Equality was to make his light box. Equality 7-2521’s desire for making his light box was to break away from the community and become his own individual. Equality 7-2521 has the right to be motivated in this way because everyone should be able to be their own person. If everyone were motivated like that today, then society would be more advanced, but things wouldn’t get done as quickly. Equality’s primary motivation to make the light box was to become his own individual, which is forbidden in his community. Equality had always wanted to be a scholar, but the Council of Vocations assigned him to be a street sweeper. He was very bitter about that and he aspired to be something more in his community. However, things wouldn’t get done as quickly as they do today. If everyone were motivated to do what they thought was best for themselves, then the population would be further advanced. This is because they would do what they wanted and only that. They wouldn’t care about what everyone thought about their actions. Whereas in today’s society, people are especially judgmental and always have something to say about what others do. Even though things would be more advanced, tasks would get done less quickly. In society, people help each other achieve what they want to achieve. If everyone thought for themselves only, then they wouldn’t care about helping other people out. Sometimes one person does not have enough knowledge, strength, or power to get a task done. Today, other people would help other members of society fully achieve the task. If they didn’t, then the task might partially get done or not get done at
