Introduction What is an envisioned literacy program? To me, it is the program I plan to enact in my future classroom that will be most academically beneficial to my students. It is a program that will further my students understanding and appreciation of literature, while also challenging them to think critically of the relationship between literacy and the whole around them. In order to accomplish this, many aspects of the classroom environment must be considered thoroughly. These aspects include: the classroom layout, classroom management plan, students and parent involvement, literacy block models, and input from more experienced teachers. To me, the walls play as large a role on the classroom environment as the layout itself. I plan to try and keep my classroom following a new theme each month. In that, the classroom decorations will reflect this theme. This theme will be based off whatever the current unit in one of the content areas it about. In that, I will also be sure to provide area for multiple anchor charts as well. These anchor charts will allow for students to refresh their memory on previously taught concepts. I will also be keeping an anchor chart reference book of sorts in which I will be keeping the previously made anchor charts available for student reference when …show more content…
This environment being one of compassion, comfort, and enthusiasm. I want my students to gain the love of reading and learning that I have. As I look back on my schooling days, I have always found that I have learned best from teachers who were the most enthusiastic about the content they were teaching and the way in which they were teaching it. I hope to be that for my students. I want to provide for them a strong foundation of learning that they will be able to carry with them throughout their schooling days and into their futures as adults. As crazy as it might sound, I know it can be done because I have witnessed it first-hand. This envisioned literacy program is only the first step in accomplishing that
