The story “Harrison Bergeron” is set in the year 2081 where amendments are set so that every citizen is equal in every way. This is achieved by putting handicaps on those that are superior in any way. This story, at first look, seems to be a hard read because of it's length. It is surprisingly easy to read for a story of its length. The story takes a dark and dystopian setting where everyone is altered by the government through certain handicaps. The handicaps that are set ensured that everyone was equal and average in every way possible.The story “Harrison Bergeron” is set in the future where amendments have been set in place so that devices are in all people so that all are equal. The story is descriptive of many details which emphasizes the dark tone that the text holds. The story reads as if it was the beginning of a thriller movie because of the dark and suspenseful tone that it carries throughout the story. Regardless, of it's short sentences in many areas, the story still manages to maintain its slow pacing,this is unlike other stories in which short sentences are in use to accelerate the pace.The story holds a dark tone by keeping the reader in suspense, by keeping the story slow and by introducing charters as innocent people being tortured into being emotionless.The story shows what the country could possibly be like with some massive changes between now and 2081 and represents how citizens’ lives could become with enough corrupt government
