Much research has been conducted regarding the importance of vaccination in children.
The studies identified how vaccines are known to be one of the most effective preventative measure in the history of medicine (Prymula, 2013). Because of vaccinations, the spread of diseases has been eradicated which is why diseases that were common many years ago, such as measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, and diphtheria are rarely contracted. ). The CDC and the
Advisory Committee on Immunization create a list of recommended vaccinations for children.
Today, children are vaccinated against 14 diseases during their infancy and adolescent years
(Miller and Reynolds). Although some parents and anti­vaccination groups’ debate on whether vaccinations are necessary, the researchers agree that vaccinations lead to the eradication of disease. The need for better data on vaccine risks, the insufficient information from case reports, the limitations of existing surveillance systems to provide evidence of causation, and the lack of experimental studies published relative to the total number of epidemiologic studies published have not been discussed in recent research (Chen). If a vaccine needs to be used indefinitely, it is imperative to better understand which vaccine adverse events are true reactions. Each year 2.1 million children ages 10 to 35 months of age are under vaccinated (Smith et al). These children are at risk of acquiring and transmitting vaccine preventable diseases. This paper intends to demonstrate an overview of preventing infectious diseases, discuss the scope of the issue, and reveal how autism doesn’t relate to vaccinations.
Vaccinations have prevented some diseases and even eliminated others. It is important to emphasize the improved health effects of vaccines not only to parents, but also on the population of the country because people don’t fully understand the disease, how they spread, and the complications from infections (Phillips). People do not realize that a single traveler with measles

can come in contact with 839 people and ultimately infect 11 people, as most recently happened in California. Anyone who has not been vaccinated or partially vaccinated is at risk (Phillips).
Every person should be aware of the pain, fear, sadness, and financial expenses, lost time of work that the infectious disease can create. Health providers should be prepared to provide answers to parents who may be skeptical because some parents have strong personal and religious beliefs. Other parents may lack knowledge and up to date information. Parents also express their concern whether there are too many vaccines given at one time together at too young an age. Current vaccines in the United States protect against 16 infectious diseases and provide the effect of 177 individual antigens. However, children who have received their vaccinations in combined forms and at the commended time intervals perform better on psychological testing (Phillips).
