Put it in the Trash! As you are walking down the shoreline on your family vacation and see pieces of trash in the sand or floating around in the ocean, you make think to yourself “how disgusting” or “how cruel”. How can someone knowingly destroy this earth by throwing their McDonald’s happy meal in the ocean out of pure laziness? No thought in their minds of what the future consequences may be. In today’s day and age, someone sees another person litter every day. Litter is an important environmental issue, one of the biggest today. It is amazing that 94% of people identify litter as a major environmental problem and yet still litter (Illegal). Litter consists of trash and household toxic substances that are improperly disposed of on land or in water. Whether the litter is intentional or unintentional, large or small, it can drastically affect the environment for years to come. Choose not to litter. Make the commitment now to join with thousands of other Americans to not be a litterbug. Volunteer in your community to help prevent and cleanup litter—from cigarette butts to illegal dumps. Get a litter bag or portable ash receptacles to share. You can also post flyers about not littering (What). Go to local stores, post offices, gas stations, and put a recycling bin in the most convenient spot for people to use, for paper, plastic, cans, anything you can recycle. All the little things count! The littlest thing you can do is, if you see litter, pick it up! The earth is a beautiful place with beautiful creatures. Let’s continue to let it grow and prosper! Go green
