On this matter, I completely agree with Liz Addison’s difference of opinion to Mr.

Perlstein essay in regards to believing that college does not matter. Liz Addison emphasized her

view on the importance of going to college. College is a great stepping stone for anyone who is

looking to achieve their career ambitions. It is a cerebral environment where people can learn the

skills and education they need to do well. My take on Mr. Perlstein perspective is that since he is

unfamiliar with how college is today compared to previous times, he wants people to believe that

it has declined in terms of efficiency and the experience is no longer worthwhile.

College offers many choices and opportunities that can potentially lead to success if one

Even though salaries for college graduates differ based on one’s major, the pay increase

for most college majors is usually more than the total amount that students will have pay for the

college tuition.

College matters especially since it teaches people how to work efficiently. The

experience, of college, will help people learn how to balance their life from work and school, this

is a skill that is essential in the workplace. It takes serious practice to study well, staying away

from procrastination and preparing notes for each week. It also takes practice to collect months

of information into a weekend. College will prepare people to be responsible, help people learn

how to multi-task, and time – management.

Mr. Perlstein was absolutely wrong about college not being effective. In today’s world, a

college education is crucial in order to get a job. Many employers do not hire anyone without a

diploma from school even from entry-level jobs. College is a great environment for people to

find themselves, learn new skills, build themselves up, and discover new desires. Receiving a college education will allow someone to apply for high-paying jobs, and support themselves
