With todays every changing society and technological changes, more and more of our younger generation are being empowered with the knowledge and capabilities to leader teams and organizations to the rise of profitability and growth. There is much education and technology easily available as well as growing opportunities to become leaders. “In this new frontier of leadership there is less hierarchy in organizational structures coupled with greater emphasis on follower empowerment. Emerging leadership models in this hi-tech society feature more of a decentralized structure with a shared intelligence (Spencer 2007).”
I most recently was employed at a private non-profit organization providing housing, employment and counseling services to our nation’s veterans, the men and women from all branches of the armed forces who have served their country from World War II to the current conflict in Afghanistan. Utilizing the transformational leadership style the executive director of the phoenix site can encourage the staff to set higher standards to achieve individual goals as well as the organizational goals. The executive director can set time aside each month to teach and train the staff through educational and hands-on team building exercises that can keep the front line employees productive and self-motivated. These exercises can help interdepartmental communication and allow for each separate department to understand team goals, for instance, the case manager were unaware of what extent the outreach team’s tasks were and vice versa. By reenacting multiple scenarios from each department in these trainings, the staff can gain the knowledge to communicate properly through the necessary channels, as well as gaining confidence in the organization as a
