In modern day america, a trend has surfaced that promotes movement towards receiveing agricultural commodities locally. This trend has been deemed the “locavore movement”. The trend claims to be superior to popular processes of agricultural import, but a majority oppose this opinion.The issue has come to a rise of whether or not to support the movement.Communities should support the locavore movement as to assist in insuring healthy, nutritous food is readily available, support local jobs, farmers, and the economy, and reduce heavy reliance on cheap labor and increasing food shipping distance, contrary to the beliefs that importing food is the proper approach. Through the support of the locavore movement, communities insure that healthy, nutritous food will continue to be readily available for use.The locavore movements heart argument is to eat locally and support local farmers. By eating locally, produce is guranteed to be fresher. When purchasing produce from large corporations, food “ has been in transit or cold-stored for days or weeks.”(Source A, Par.2). If communities were to support the locavore movement the pollution created by this interdependenceon imported goods would be reduced greatly, and the use of cheap labor for food production would be drastically reduced.
