The story of Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrel is an extraordinary story of a marine who lost it all when a mission went for a turn for the worst. Nothing can heal these wounds but the least he can do is tell his story. Marcus Luttrell the author and marine who saw it all first hand was in Afghanistan attempting to kill al Qaeda when it all went wrong and he was the lone survivor proving his toughness, willingness to never give and courage. A ferocious battle where the navy would experience the largest loss ever in the history and he would have to tell the story of everyone’s loss. when in war “I dropped my rifle and cleared the log in one bound” (220). This shows his him not giving up on his teammates as he could’ve been shot but he decides to help Danny who could’ve died that instance had he not been there. Even though he had shrapnells from the grenades and a gunshot wound, he never gave up on finding safety. Lastly, when he had to complete hell week, he pushed through never giving up on his dreams. In these instances, he depicts his will to not give up. Not only does he never give up, he also shows tremendous amounts of courage throughout the book. He first shows this when he is even willing to risk his life for the seals and protect the nation.
