In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Curley’s wife is portrayed as being full of anger and hatred. But in the film version directed by Gary Sinese, we see her in a totally different light. For example, Sinese added a new scene where we see signs of abuse from Curley. In the scene George goes to the barn to bring a horse to Crooks. Instead of finding Crooks he encounters Curley’s Wife. They have a short conversation before Curley comes and yells at her for not being in the house. This scene can alter the way Curley’s Wife is perceived because of the way Curley treats her. He forces her to stay away from the other men in the house.
