Loneliness is a dominant theme in Of Mice and Men which is symbolized in the story in multiple ways such as the time that crooks wanted Lennie and candy to stay,because he was lonely.He was successful at a degree as he did get them to stay but is unknown about in the future.Another time was when Curley's wife came into the farm/bunk place to talk to Lenny because she was lonely.Lenny does end up talking to her but things take a twisty slope as lenny unwanting brushes her hair because he likes brushing soft things and kills curley's wife One last example was when candy was lonely because his dog had been put down.I infer that candy must feel lonely as his best friend was put down,the one person/animal that he cared about.This also shows a good
