Research Paper: Effects of Long Term Space Flight Rough Draft

Sci-Fi Paper Synopsis: The paper will describe how a deep-space rocket functions at a basic level, it will describe how atmospheric composition of another planet can be determined, and it will demonstrate the negative consequences of long term space flight physiologically and psychologically.. The plot of the story will involve a group of astronauts travelling in an advanced rocket ship in order to reach another habitable planet very far away from the Earth. Issues persist while they are travelling to the planet, and once they arrive they notice that something isn’t quite right about the planet.

One of the major risks of a long-term mission to another planet are the negative side effects of living in zero gravity. Some short-term effects include:

These effects can greatly reduce the capabilities of a crew member, with the multitudes of electronic equipment and instruments needed to pilot the spacecraft and relay messages or data back to mission control on Earth. For example, landing a capsule on another planet becomes much more dangerous when you have been under the influences of zero gravity for large stretches of time. This is comparable to driving for an extended amount of time, while only running on a few hours of sleep; you know that staying concentrated on the road is very difficult and much more dangerous. Luckily for most astronauts, these side effects are often temporary and thus do not pose a large threat to the stability of the crew members on board a long-term space flight. While these effects may not be permanent, space organizations like NASA still conduct experiments and tests on astronauts before, during and after long-term test flights on the International Space Station so that they can monitor
