During a raging war, a group of schoolboys, who survived a plane crash, landed on an uninhabited island near the Pacific. The pilot was killed in the crash and there was no adult supervision. Ralph, who is confident and handsome and Piggy who is a surprisingly intelligent but asthmatic boy with glasses, finds a conch shell, which Ralph used as a horn to summon other surviving boys for a meeting. Among the boys was Jack Merridew, an aggressive boy, who leads a choir composed of boys covered in black cloaks. Ralph was elected chief during the assembly and he then leads Jack and Simon on an adventure around the island where they confirmed that they were, indeed, on a deserted island. He proposes that they should build a fire on the mountain to signal any passing ships wherein, Piggy’s glasses became a useful object in the process of starting a fire. After the fire was made, Piggy protests and criticizes the boys for not making a shelter first and worries that one boy is already missing after they failed to know the total number of boys there are. Jack continues to hunt for pigs and Ralph leads the building of shelters for the boys while Simon, the only one who has always helped Ralph and Piggy, journey the island on his …show more content…
Jack’s tribe set fire to the whole forest to smoke Ralph out; even destroying whatever fruit is left on the island. The chase made the whole island consumed in flames and Ralph, running for his life and the hunters closely behind him, finally collapsed near the beach in front of a naval officer, who came with his party to investigate on the fire. Ralph, realizing the loss of innocence and what they have done, finally burst into tears while Jack and the other surviving boys begins to shake and sob too. The officer begins to feel moved and embarrassed by the children’s noises so he turns away to give them time to pull themselves
