The story lord of the flies is a very deep and touching book physically and mentally, but what is the author trying to teach. Some people say that the thing William Golding is trying to teach to his readers is civilization and how you can loose it throughout time. Civilization is the the stage in which human social development and organization is most advanced. You don't pick it up on purpose but you pick it up after you see it happen a lot. Civilization is an important key in daily human life currently because it shapes on how a person will be or turn out to be.

In the beginning of the story when the plane crashed and the people started to flood out of the plane they all had at least a little civilization. They all know how to act in a normal city or state, but they are on an island with no adults to enforce the civilization in them. They have no idea what to do , but they all still have civilization in them. As time goes on most of them loose all of their civilization completely."Piggy was so full of pride in his contribution to the good society that he helped fetch wood" (133, Golding). This far in the book piggy was basically the only one with left on the island who still held on to that stage in life called civilization.
