The Lord of the flies

Envision yourself in a society without rules. One of the main character in the book had to fight with the will of being good or bad which led to his destruction. A group of boys were left on an island and they have to learn how to adapt to their environment, Many chose to live by rules and Jack chose to disobey the rules. In the novel Lord Of The Flies by William Golding, the theme that lack of rules in a society can cause the loss of innocence is shown through the character Jack.

In the beginning of the book Jack was a kid that was following the rules of the society and he had an innocence in him. Jack and the others were walking down the mountain one day when they came across a pig, Jack showed innocence when he hesitated to kill the pig. He had lost so much innocence that he began thinking about hunting a human being. His loss of innocence made him turn evil against everyone “They hate you Ralph. They’re going to do you, they’re going to hunt you tomorrow(188). This illustrates the idea that a non rules society can make one lose their innocence. Jack lost all of his innocence ever since he started killing pigs, his mind was so into killing, that he thought about killing a fellow human being. After he had lost all of his innocence because he didn’t want to follow the rules he began acting like a beast, he started acting like he was the king of the land. This show that when an individual loses all of their innocence they begin to make very bad decisions and they tend not to think before they make decisions. Therefore, Jack lost all of his innocence that he decided that he would kill a fellow human
