We really are what we hate take a peek into the future in 1984

Most people first blame their government for any misfortunate events such as protection,privacy, and even deaths. People blame the government because they are the who hold the power. Winston realizes this fact a little too late. In the book, 1984 their way of thinking is changed to benefit the inner party, the government. Going against what he believed for so long causes him to doubt his worries, which makes him conflicted. They do not feel any guilt because they think they are powerless against the threat,and only the ones with power can prevent it so they think.
What they fail to realize is that they are not powerless, it is just the thought of weakness causes them to be powerless. In retrospect they are the ones that make the government as powerful as they are. We choose to turn our head to the truth; that we are the problem. That is why we are destined to crumble under the government's so called power, this is how the omnipotent Big Brother is born. The people played a big role in its creation, the government uses people's greatest weakness our emotions. An example of this is the 2 minutes of hate, showing society's “most hated person” to allow the people to have a common enemy and a common goal.

To do the government must 1st control society's way of thinking and also a way to prevent rebellions. A government that can silence peoples thoughts are the most dangerous. An example would be in page 99 the quote “ People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, and your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word.” This quote demonstrates how much the government wishes to corrupt their minds instead of there
