A man with one of the most daring and shocking lives to probably ever live, the runner, the little thief, the survivor, you guessed it, Louie Zamperini himself. Since Louie was young, he would steal things that were around him for himself and every once in awhile pull a ruse using whatever was nearby, like the piano wire attached to the tree and the church bell that had woken up hundreds of people. He also showed much hopefulness and confidence in his life, like when he ran to get into the olympics and, at the time, was one of the youngest olympic runners. Through his actions, Louie Zamperini from Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, strongly expresses the characteristic traits of being resourceful and optimistic. Through Louie’s daring life, he has showed that he is very resourceful when the time comes to be. One time was when Louie, Phil, and Mac were on the raft, and as it is written, “Louie grabbed the air pump cases, tore the seams, spread the fabric into bowls, and let the rain pool, sucking it up and spitting it in the cans.”(Hillenbrand, 112) All 3 of them were on the raft, dehydrated and starving, but it had begun to downpour and fresh water was given to them.
