The speaker that is being presented at Angelo State University for the commencement ceremony must be disinvited not only for the good of the students on campus, but also for the good of the community. The speaker that is being invited is clearly a twisted man that can only relate to people like himself. For anyone different then himself or for anyone holding different views than himself, he finds excuses to slander them. At this point, you may wonder what kind of person could be so intolerant. Well, let me tell you about Louis Farrakhan: this man has compared himself to Hitler, preached that blacks are superior to whites and that all whites deserve to die, and finally, he proclaims his beliefs that Jews are evil and spread homosexuality. There are multiple ways that violence could happen in this situation. The first possibility that could happen is protests and demonstrations against the arrival of Mr. Farrakhan that could cause massive public unrest and disorder. Another possibility that could happen is the arrival of a multitude of non-residents that could threaten the stability of our town. We are a town prides itself on tolerance and acceptance of all, no matter race, religion, ethnicity. Allowing Mr. Farrakhan to come denounce whole groups of people based on their race, religion, or ethnicity would both set a precedence for intolerance and hatred and stoke the flames of barbarity. There are plenty of opportunities for violence that must be contemplated with the arrival of this schismatic commencement speaker, and our police department will most certainly have their hands full with this guest and the ramifications of his speech. There are certainly many individual aspects to consider with our Angelo State University commencement speaker that have to be addressed before he is allowed to proceed with his speech. In recognition and for fear of what he has done before, the University must carefully consider the likely negative outcomes. It is frightening
