A man once said that monochromatic painting is an “Open window to freedom, as the possibility of being immersed in the immeasurable existence of color” (Borteh). This man’s name was Yves Klein, an influential painter in his time. Although the average person more than likely does not know who he is, Klein was a very popular and important artist in france. He has left behind a great legacy that still lives today, however, he will not be remembered the way he should be. Yves Klein was one of the most creative and great artist in his time who sadly could not receive the recognition and fame that he deserved. Yves Klein was born on April twenty eighth 1928 in Nice France (Wainwright). He was born to Marie and Raymond Klein. His parents were very lax and did not have many rules for Klein. Both of his parent were also full time artist. Despite this, Yves never received any type of proper training or education on painting or any other form of art for that matter. Only months after his marriage Klein suffered a heart attack that took his life. He passed on June 6, 1962 at the young age of only thirty four. He died and was buried in his hometown of Paris, France (Wainwright). Although his career was a short one, his legacy will always remain. His main point of remembrance will always be how he used one color in his paintings. Because of Yves Klein, Monochrome paintings were made popular and still exist today. Not only did Klein leave behind the legacy of an art type but he even left behind a color. No matter what happens International Klein Blue will always remain a color. Because of all these factors, Klein was one of the most influential artists in France during his time
