Louisa May Alcott was revolutionary for her time. She stood up for rights of all people, especially single women. She accomplished many things in her life, and is a hero for women to this day. Louisa May Alcott was born on November 29, 1832. Her parents were Amos Bronson Alcott and Abby May Alcott. She was the youngest of three girls. Growing up, she had to help support her family financially. Her father ran a school that needed constant attention after her family insisted on letting a black student attend. When the Civil War began, Louisa became a nurse for the soldiers. She cleaned the soldiers’ wounds and spoon-fed the very weak and injured soldiers.
