The vice president, Lumbergh did not have any visionary leadership styles since he did not have a good sense of demonstrating an understanding of achieving goals. A good leader would discuss with his/her employees about their work progress and the results of their progress which Lumbergh doesn’t do. The TPS reports that Lumbergh tells his employees to do are pointless which shows that he has very poor vision. Since Lumbergh is the boss of Initech, the employees have to do what he says, this shoes Lumbergh’s use of legitimate power. Lumbergh has bad referent power because he is not charismatic at all and his employees don’t treat him in a positive way. In order for Lumbergh to be a good leader, he would need to make use of all the different types of power and use them appropriately, but he doesn’t do that since he is only using position power. …show more content…
He is not good at motivating his employees to work nor influencing them that would help them achieve a certain goal. He is not good at being flexible because he doesn’t adapt to the needs of his employees, like when Milton is trying to talk to him but since he stutters, Lumbergh just cuts him off and walks away. A good leader would let him finish his sentence and not walk away from his employees. Lumbergh doesn’t pay attention to the health of his employees but to their work performance. This is seen when he uses his authority to “ask” Peter to work on the weekends, paying no attention to his health at
