A breath, a breath—you empty my lungs of air and pull it around you, fill it with radiance, wear it like an aureole. Slantwise blue sunlight kisses the icicles drip-frozen in your hair. I give myself over to you freely; breath, eyes, soul. We dance with fear in love, yet love is fearless. The lines of reason blur and coalesces with a plunge into your eyes–searing eyes, burnt umber eyes–I’ll sleep fitfully at dawn, drowned in dreams of you. These dreams are ours. Lying latent in snow, I let your winter seep through my layers, under my skin. Your name brands itself beneath closed eyes. I live on your breaths, gently smouldering. I will survive on them until spring, as you have taken all mine away.
