Macbeth: Killer? or Controlled to make everyone believe so?

In the play "Macbeth" by WIlliam Shakespeare, the protagonist (Macbeth) runs into 2

witches that tell him that he will become Thane of Cawdor, and soon after King. Later, he was

rewarded the title Thane of Cawdor by the King. This may seem like witch craft, but that does

not mean his life is being controlled by these witched, or even by another supernatural force.

The title (Thane of Cawdor), was given to Macbeth for a reason. Even if the fate was

brought upon by the witched, this does not mean Macbeth's actions are completely controlled

by supernatural forces. In the book The previous Thane of Cawdor was captured and

executed, so the title Thane of Cawdor was given to Macbeth as gratitude for helping

Scotland reach victory. This helps to prove that macbeth's actions are not controlled by the 3

witches because King Duncan rewarded Macbeth the title.

More evidence to prove Macbeth's actions are his own included the ordeal involving

Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth hears about the titles given to Macbeth and immediately plots

the murder of King Duncan, so that Macbeth can become King. Macbeth so

"[settles]" (1.7.92). This proves the statement above because again the actions are caused by

a force other than the 3 weird sisters.

Another reason the statement that Macbeth's action are not controlled by supernatural

forces can be verified
