Luka Magnotta has made it onto the long list of Canada’s faces of evil. The horrific murder of Lin Jun committed by Magnotta can be understood through a range of criminological theories proposed. The theories that most sufficiently explain the reasons for Magnotta’s actions are Eysenck’s theory of crime and personality, which can be supported by an examination of his traits that embody psychoticism such as anti-social behaviour, egocentrism, aggression, inhumanity and creativity, and rational choice theory, which can be displayed through observing how each decision leading up to the murder of Jun was calculated and would make a contribution to ensure that Magnotta would receive the maximum amount of attention once he committed the murder.
