On Saturday I once again found myself hoping that the big "X" marking the spot would appear at my feet. I woke up to the impatient scream of my alarm clock and groggily climbed into the car at six thirty in the morning. My parents had agreed to take me to the National Portfolio Day in Hartford Connecticut. I felt that I should be nervous, but I wasn't I knew that it would all fall into place and hopefully by the end of the day I would be standing on that "X."

Setting into the five hour drive I fell immediately asleep, and it wasn't until I had my obtained my overpriced Starbucks coffee that I set in on my pile of homework. I would say it was a successful drive as I accomplished a quarters worth of my independent Spanish work while being jostled around in the backseat of the car.

I chose the Maine College of Art to speak with first as a way to warm into the idea of a portfolio review. I pulled my work out onto the counter and her face filled with a smile. It was in that instant I knew MECA wasn't going to be the school for me. From that point on she congratulated me on my work and told me how wonderful I was. When I asked what I could improve on she was at a loss for words; only able to focus on what I was doing well. This was a wonderful self-esteem boost, but when being reviewed I want to be told what I'm doing
