The differences and similarities of the Makah and Umatilla and their clothing and the recourses were dependent on where they live. Have you ever wondered what it was like to have to look for your own food, water and shelter? Have you ever thought of why life was so hard back then. Back then the tribes had to do many different things to survive? The Makah and Umatilla tribes of the Northwest interacted with their environment differently and similarly to provide food, shelter and clothing for their people.

In source 2: The encyclopedia of Native American tribes, it says “Makah villages consisted of 3 to 20 flat roofed longhouses they were set along beaches and they were made out of dirt floors and frames made of planks held in by pegs. Next, the source said the Umatilla lived in winter villages for years but often spent months at a time on hunting trips and at those times they lived in teepees. Finally the similarities are that each tribe lived a house for a long period of time. This evidence shows how each tribe built their shelter.
