before he was born he was already set up for leadership. At first, he didn’t want to be the leader of the Nation of Islam and it showed in his actions once he was the leader after his father’s death, he rejected the teachings of Wallace Fard Muhammad which lead believers to loose belief and he slowly but surely lost his acceptance in the Nation.
Warith made his political views much known, he gained interest from a lot of Muslim believers all over the world. He led a lot of the NOI believers to the traditional Sunni Islam by 1978. Although several thousand followed Louis Farrakhan when he split from Warith to re-establish the Nation of Islam, most members remained with Warith as he continued to move his community from the race-based, separate beliefs of the Nation. I think he helped the Nation by his thoughtful ideas within the community.
