Although Malcom X may have faced many obstacles throughout his life, his achievements significantly outweigh them. Malcom had quite a quiet early life compared to his adulthood though a small win could have been his ability to focus in school and acquire a decent enough education. This education may not have gone a long way for most black Americans at the time; however, he developed a talent for public speaking that would enable him to become an icon along with Martin Luther King Jr. who would go on to represent the black race in the US. Not long after his devotion to the then small organization, Malcom X gained many promotions and went on to represent the NOI in Boston, Philadelphia and then New York. A brave act ensued when he disowned his last name/slave name Little and replaced it with a bold X. Speaking to dozens, hundreds, thousands then hundreds of thousands, Malcom slowly gained a following and his audience began to grow even faster after appearances on various talk shows and debates. Arguably, his largest triumph may have been bringing a huge amount of attention to the race split in the US starting (alongside Martin Luther King Jr. who led a different approach) a new era in the US in terms of civil and human rights. After a split with the NOI, Malcom founded two of his own organization, titled the Organizations of Afro-American Unity and the Muslim Mosque Inc. In addition, he shook off any doubts of “Negroes” being capable of having a healthy academic intelligence by having his own autobiography published after he was assassinated which gave an inside view of his own perspective into key events in his lifetime.
