Vaccinations that can prevent deadly diseases is one of the greatest medical achievements. In 1796 Edward Jenner, a country doctor living in Berkeley England gave the first vaccination (smallpox and cowpox). Ever since then there has been a lot of controversy over effectiveness, ethics, safety of vaccinations. In 2009 it was argued whether or not it some or all vaccinations should be obligatory for all children. Parents were not happy about this at all because they thought they should be able to decide what is best for their child. Every parent is concerned about their child’s health but vaccines are questionable for some parents. There is no evidence that delaying is safer. The vaccine schedule is the safest and is recommended by doctors. A predication has to go to college for four years, medical school another four then has to have three years of general pediatric training in a hospital and other places. They also have to pass a lot of test to be able to become a pediatrician. I think I am going to trust my child’s pediatrician rather then something I read on the internet that is not true at all. Some parents claim vaccines contains toxins such as mercury, gluminum, formaldehyde, and antifreeze. Vaccines are mainly water but they do require a few additional ingredients to stabilize the solution or to increase the effectiveness. People worry about mercury because some vaccines use it to preserve thimerosal which breaks down into ethylmercury. Researchers know that methylmercury does not accumulate in the body unlike methylmercury the neurotoxin found in some fish. Thimerosal has been removed from infant’s vaccines since 2001 as a pre caution. Vaccines contain aluminum salts they are used to enhance the body’s immune system and make the vaccine more effective. There is nothing in vaccines that are harmful. Vaccinations have almost eliminated some diseases completely and they have prevented almost everyone that has been vaccinated from contracting deadly diseases.
