This movie is about a courageous strong man’s journey to overcome South Africa apartheid. Nelson Mandela was born on July 18th 1918. He was like a Martin Luther King Jr. to them, the only difference was that he wasn’t assassinated and he is still living. Another important leader in this movie is Bishop Desmond Tutu. Mandela was put in jail in November of 1962. He was in jail for roughly 27 years. His jail cell was small; it didn’t have a toilet or a bed either. He would write everyday a line to keep track how many days he has been in jail. The prisoners weren’t allowed any contact with the other prisoners; the only time they could talk to each other was when they were working. While Mandela was in jail his son died in a car accident. This crushed Mandela. Mandela got out of jail on February 11th 1990. Mandela was elected president in 1994 at the age of 77. His term lasted from 1994-1999. Mandela is still alive to this day, he lives in South Africa.
