When Ariel was a freshman in highschool she had a hard time adjusting to the changes the responsibility being a young adult brought. Taking a marching band course was not in her plans but the choice had already been made. The definition of marching band according to the dictionary is a group of musicians that perform for entertainment. They prepare themselves for weeks before performing to make sure everything is in place and goes according to the plan.
Students shouldn’t be required to take a course in the arts because space for an important class might be needed, plus not everyone is attracted to these type of classes, and it puts unnecessary stress on students.

Taking a core class in middle and high school is not a choice, these classes are arranged to help you build the future you want. As we grow up, learning new subjects gets harder and harder by the minute. Graduating is necessary in this country because without a high school diploma it’ll be really hard to find a decent job. Adding a non-core class puts stress on students that they shouldn’t have. Let’s admit it, your teenage years can be the best or the worst years of your life. Although an arts class can be a lot of fun, it takes a lot of work to learn something new. The average person takes at least 2 years to learn an instrument, such as the guitar or the violin. In my opinion, it’s kind of pointless to do this because it might not work out for you in the future. Life is about living in the moment and enjoying it but sometimes we have to make a change and plan what’s best for us.
