Different genres of music evoke distinctive feelings to the listener for example, a rock and roll song may evoke the emotion of joy and power while an a capella choir melody may suggest emotions of spirituality and solemnity. Similarly, culturally distinctive songs may not always be understood by a foreign audience, however, by actively listening to the tone, rhythm, pitch and tonality of the song the listener can understand the emotions the melody is evoking. One great example of a foreign musical genre is the musical group Marichi Flor de Toloache. Mariachi Flor de Toloache is composed of a group of solely women. Mireya Ramos is the main vocalist and founder of the group along with cofounder Shae Fiol, which also serves as backup vocalist and vilhuela player for the group. This song conveys a dance theme due to the fast tempo but it also incorporates a sing a long contour with its simple lyrics and repetition in the musical notes. The texture of this melody is thin due to the few notes playing at once in the instruments. However, the dynamics in this song are emphasized in the vocals, because they can be heard the loudest throughout the entire song. The emphasis of this song is in the vocals because they incorporate rubato in the melody which allows for a temporary disregard of strict tempo to compensate for the slight melisma in the vocals.
