Nobody born with knowledge, people often think about themselves and develop themselves after something makes them have strong emotions, especially the emotions are negative because negative emotions are harder to forget than positive emotions. According to the article named Marigolds by Eugenia W. Collier, the childhood of Lizabeth is the best example of how people develop themselves. When one is able to reflect on his/her past experiences with the intention of truthful exploration, he/she is able to begin to understand human nature with insight and compassion. Memory is often out of control although it is in people’s mind. Sometimes the memory that people want to forget show up again and again in their mind, maybe it is a sign of pain but it is also a hint to tell the owner that do not make the same mistake in the future.

Emotion is the major force to makes people to do something and it is also the major cause after people done something. For instance, when Lizabeth was young, she and other children hated those marigolds that Ms. Lottie planted because they are too beautiful and they have something that those children could not understand and refused to understand. The marigolds that Ms. Lottie planted are destroyed, but the marigolds that planted in their spirit would never be destroyed. More marigolds they destroyed in reality, more marigolds are planted in their spirits. The emotion called shame will show up and develop them one day in the future. Equally, Lizabeth cried after she knew that Ms. Lottie found the marigolds, Lizabeth knew that Ms. Lottie must be sad because she love those marigolds really much, but what Lizabeth did not know is she destroyed the whole world of an old woman until she is old enough to understand human nature. 3rd
