Inspired by a Mega-Star

With her platinum blonde locks and bright succulent red lips, Marilyn Monroe’s independence and self confidence is still an inspiration to woman in today’s modern culture. Many people love her acting, fashion, singing and sense of style. I however, adore her because she stayed true to herself using resources to overcome roadblocks in her life. Marilyn used her acting skills to become a mega-star and create her own production company. She could turn heads with her skin-tight and over-revealing outfits, walking with more confidence than anyone I have ever seen. “I live to succeed, not to please you or anyone else.” – Marilyn Monroe
Because of her looks, Marilyn was tight casted to play the “dumb blond roles” as she called it. But Marilyn took her acting career very seriously. After gaining her Mega-star status in 1955, while dealing with her failed marriage to playwright Arthur Miller, Marilyn took charge of her career and refused to play the “dumb blond” character anymore. She made the life changing decision to move to New York and start Marilyn Monroe Productions. For a woman to have her own production company during that time was unheard of. By claiming her femininity, independence as an actress and entrepreneur in that era, Marilyn’s actions inspired other women to take charge of their lives and careers and not conform to the male driven world they lived in.
