The Marin Headlands lies just in a few minutes from the cosmopolitan city with high buildings made of stone and glass, but the nature here is picturesque and wild. The Marin Headlands is a crown jewel of the Golden Gate National Parks. It is a hilly peninsula in the southern Marin County, California, just north of San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge, which connects the two peninsulas. This whole area is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. For the thousands of years, the Marin Headlands area was the home to the Native American tribes of the coastal Miwok. In the 18th century, there were Spanish and Mexican farmers behind them came the Portuguese immigrants from the Azores, and from the late 19th century on the peninsula of various fortifications and settlements were located. Right now, it is the zone for active vacations for people of all ages. Here it is possible to relax and take some time for meditation while observing the spectacular view.
