Imagine a class working very hard. The teacher is appointing instructions to the class about a typing project and each of the students have laptops in front of them, however, half of the class isn’t paying attention because they are too distracted going on different websites while the teacher is trying to instruct the class, causing them to be lost in the assignment. Now, in order to increase student success at Anaheim Schools, is to focus more on the time and work, because if we have more time, it would help students learn more slowly and efficiently. It also gives a greater chance that the student would remember the courses they learned last year to help them in the current year because of the shortened summer breaks. In “Marita’s Bargain”, Gladwell says “The only problem with school, for the kids who aren’t achieving it, is that there isn’t enough of it” (8). …show more content…
This causes kids to fall behind in their classes, creating a higher chance of failure. Gladwell also states that the “extended amount of time gives you the chance as a teacher to explain things, and more time for the kids to sit and digest everything” (10). As said before, more time would majorly help these kids, because they would take more time on the lesson. This is giving them a better understanding of the subject they are learning, because teachers do not have to rush through everything, worrying that they finish the entire course before the year ends. This change would be important to Anaheim because it would create a higher passing rate and most likely a higher percentage of people that go to
