Based on the positions of the bodies, Maritza on bottom and Yolanda on top, it is likely that Maritza was killed first. A non-fatal shoot through the right breast has a 90 degree trajectory and was recovered in her upper shoulder blade which could suggest the offender was kneeling below her as she sat on the edge of the bed or standing at the end of the bed as she lay flat on her back. The blouse located under Maritza, has a hole in the location that would correspond to the right breast entrance wound suggesting that she was still dressed at this time. The bruising to her eye suggests that at some point during these events, Maritza had been “pistol whipped.” The only other wound Maritza suffered was a contact gunshot wound to the right side of her head suggesting the offender stood next to her, pressed the gun directly to her head and fired. …show more content…
The most tramitc injuries Yolando suffered was in her vanginal area which was observed to have a great deal of tearing. The amount of blood in the area suggests that a foreign object was used to sexually assault her and that she was alive at the time. Yolanda also received two gunshot wounds to the head. One of the bullets entered at the top right corner of her head and was recover in her left cheek, suggesting the offender was standing on the side of the bed behind her. The second gunshot was also to the right side of the head and exited through the left side, where the bullet was recovered in the mattress. The wound and the shell casing found in her hair indicate that one of the shots was a contact gunshot. A gunshot wound on her right ring finger indicates that Yolanda tried to put her hands over her head to protect herself. Lastly, a five inch knife was stuck through her neck and continued up into the skull. Due to the lack of blood, it is highly likely the knife was inserted postmortem and is the only injury Yolanda did not have to
