The historical perspectives mentioned in Marquis de Condorcet’s “The Future Progress of the Human Mind” are vastly different to that of Mary Shelley’s. According to Marquis, the world has seen nine grand epochs and the present one was the tenth one. He in his book was pretty convinced that although mankind has developed a lot from the first epoch to the tenth one, for him, the development has been quite non uniform. In his book, he clearly stated that there are instances even int he present epoch, where the people are living as they are from the first or second epoch. Probably, by all this he meant that superstitious people are still there in the world and without the advancement in their thinking they cannot move forward. The list of the historical
